The activity in the Helsinki Stock Exchange increased in the 1980's. Finnish Stock Broker Association was founded in October 9th 1984, because the professionals in the market wanted to develop the operations and procedures of financial markets in Finland.
During the first years the association made many visits to the listed companies. In the 80's this was the main source of information because the amount of official stock exchange releases was quite limited.
In addition, enhancing free-time activities and togetherness between brokers has always been among the core missions of the association. For example, the Christmas party of Helsinki Stock Exchange used to be one of the main events during the year.
Today the Finnish Stock Broker Association has almost 300 members, of which about a half are currently working as brokers. Some 20% are working on the investment side and also about 20% are working as superiors in the financial institutions. A few of the members are working abroad.
The Association arranges 4-5 events for its members during the year. The most popular events have been the investment trip to a selected exchange abroad in Spring and the traditional crayfish party in the beginning of Autumn.
